1 IN 5 WOMEN

AND 3 IN 50 MEN

WILL BE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED

DURING THEIR TIME IN COLLEGE

WHAT WE DO

PRO(TECH)T was founded on a question: what does a potential sexual assault victim need in an emergency situation?

The answer seemed so simple; they need someone who could help, to know where they are.

iuvo was designed to meet this need. With the push of a button, a wearer can send an emergency signal containing their real-time GPS location directly to campus police, who can then track the signal and intervene in the situation. iuvo will be user friendly  in order to allow easy use in a high-stress situation. iuvo is cellphone independent, which means a wearer does not have to search for their phone or try and activate an app, allowing the signal to be sent in a moments notice. The technology is as sophisticated as possible to allow for precision location. No matter where you go, help is only a push of a button away.

OUR STORY

Madison Eddings and Ben Eisdorfer entered a Social Entrepreneurship course with a shared passion for the social problem of sexual assault on college campuses as well as to see a reform in rape culture. From this, PRO(TECH)T was born. They went on to compete in the North Carolina Social Entrepreneurship Competition and took home first place. Since then, they have incorporated in the state of North Carolina and have a patent pending on their invention. They have taken great strides in product development and have spoken directly with the UNC system regarding product implementation.

OUR VISION

We work everyday to develop a product that is user friendly and successful at preventing a sexual assault. In the North Carolina public university system alone there are upwards of 7,700 sexual assaults each year. iuvo can drastically reduce this number and offer students individualized safety and security.

We invsion a college experience liberated from fear. We invision a world in which an individual isn't afraid to walk alone at night or go for a run past dark. We invision a life where sexual assault becomes so drastically reduced that a product like ours becomes obsolete.

CULTURAL IMPACT

PRO(TECH)T not only aims to offer imediate help in sexual assault situations, but to also making a lasting cultural reformation. Our business is designed to take a percentage of profits and put it towards awareness campaigns, legislative reform, and sexual assault education centered on teaching people not to rape, instead of the current method of how not to be raped. We will also have an internet platform where iuvo wearers can register their bands and begin necessary conversations regarding sexual assault and how rape culture can be changed. This will foster community and solidarity among wearers active in reducing the prominence of sexual assault on their campus.
